Margarita Díaz Del Castillo is a colombian woman with great affinity with art, design and fashion. These affinities defined her and made her study Graphic Design at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, in Bogotá, where she graduated. After this she decided to travel and adventure to enhance her sight of the world, to Milan, Italy to study Fashion Design at the Instituto Europeo di Design. Her huge desires to know more about art and new places then took her to Argentina, where she expirienced the best adventure of her life: she learned the art of millinery and also found love. In 2012 she returned to her country and she founded her millinery fashion brand.
Getting back to her country woke up the need to find her roots, to look and research about artisan techniques and materials. She found the magic ancestral cultures and unique high quality traditional crafts all around Colombia. The compilation of all these cultures and diferent artisans, and the appropiation of some of the techniques for her hat and headpiece made her rediscover the colombian history, ethnics and traditions.
Margarita Díaz Del Castillo Millinery has participated in many fashion events collaborating with some of the most renouned colombian designers. With Hernan Zajar for the 2013 spring/summer
collection at Cali ExpoShow, with the 2012, 2013 and 2014 autum/winter collections at the Círculo de la Moda de Bogotá, with Haute Couture designer Pamela Duque at the Colombia International Fashion Week de Bogotá on 2015, with Male designer Jon Sonen’s Macondo collection at Colombia Moda 2016 and with Angela Galindo on her runway for the Bogotá Fashion Week 2017. As an exhibitor she has participated at Buro on 2015 and 2016, at B-Capital’s pop up store and at Expo Artesanías in 2016.
Margarita’s Brand offers three diferent lines: the main Haute Couture collection and Artisan Fascinators and hats, the Bride Collection with handmade headpieces by measure, with Margarita´s advice and supervision from begining to end of the final piece, and the Kids collection: a colorful and fun group of pieces like headbands, bows and ribbons.
